Portia Geach Memorial Award for female portraiture 2024
at the S H Ervin Gallery Sydney from 24th October
The Portia Geach Memorial Award is an annual prize exhibition for portraits made by female painters here in Australia. It's been going for 60 years now and has been an incredible showcase and support for women painters over this time.
It's also my personal favourite prize exhibition so I'm really thrilled to be a finalist again this year with my work, "Self portrait - Screwed up".
'This work deliberately crosses genre boundaries – it’s a portrait painting, but also a still life and, by the last image, perhaps even an abstraction of a portrait. It’s more than one thing at once – as we all are.
The title also has variable interpretations - from an object being physically crumpled, to a task failed, to a state of mental anguish. Whether it’s the painting itself being crushed, or the subject of the painting – an identity, crumpled and increasingly obscured.
Over the last 5 years, since my cancer diagnosis, I have felt a loss of identity. I’m glad not to have lost my life, but the journey of allowing one identity to slip away and another one to form is difficult.
There are still positives. In our western cultures we usually read images from left to right – in this case, the screwing up process. Others read from right to left - an uncrumpling or blossoming of the image. It’s all in how you look at things.
There’s also a light-hearted reference here to my English heritage, as this work is hung like the decorative Beswick Flying Ducks so often found on English lounge room walls half a century ago.'
It's my 9th time in the Portia Geach and I'm just as excited to be in this year's show as I was over a decade ago!

"Thinking Inside the Box"
at Olsen Annexe from 11th-28th September
Opening: 5-7pm Thursday 12th September
These distinctive paintings on unfolded domestic packaging explore the eclectic interiors of houses in Far North Queensland. The irregular shapes of the tiny panoramas highlight the dimensionality of each space, whether inside or outside. Up close, the detailed observations celebrate everything from interior décor to the patterns on tropical fish.
The unfolded packaging – repurposed tea and drug packets, food and takeaway containers and collaged book pages – shows the surrounding circumstances, both mental and physical, for the artist. Books being read, food consumed and even Covid test packets from the height of the pandemic when some of the works were made.
These works reference concepts of recycling and consumer culture but are also an exploration and celebration of places that are important to the artist.

'The Inty'
Interiors Prize at Weswal Gallery, Tamworth
My work, 'B & W's Paris Bathroom' is included in Australia's newest art prize - 'The Inty' at Weswal Gallery, Tamworth. This prize celebrates paintings of interiors and my work features a romantic bathroom in my friends' apartment in Montmartre, Paris where I recently stayed. Like much of my current work it is painted on recycled, unfolded packaging - in this case a tea box. You can find out more about 'The Inty' at: Weswal Gallery |
Aurora Expeditions Arctic 2024 - Artist in Residence
My trip as Artist in Residence to the Arctic - Iceland, Greenland and Svalbard - with Aurora Expeditions was the trip of a lifetime. Amidst the excitement of seeing unfamiliar and overwhelming landscapes of rocks and ice, there was also incredible flora and fauna right up to the apex predator, the Polar bear.
It was tricky finding time to make art but, as well as lecturing about polar artists and spending time with other artist passengers, I did manage to create some visual memories of the places and the experiences both from plein-air studies and painted works made in my 'cabin studio'.

At the end of the trip some of my artworks were auctioned as a fund-raiser for the organisation 'Take 3 for the Sea' - they aim to raise awareness of pollution (particularly plastics) in our oceans and encourage people to find ways to clean up the sea.

Comfort Zone - Joint exhibition at Shoalhaven Regional Gallery
9th March-4th May 2024
'Comfort Zone' is a joint show (with Nicci Bedson) which includes my 'recycled packaging' interior drawings. These distinctive works explore the eclectic interiors of The Artists' Houses, Kulki Beachhouse and the surrounding reef and rainforest of the Daintree in Far North Queensland. The works are all made on unfolded domestic packaging, giving them a unique appearance whilst referencing concepts of recycling and consumer culture.
These works will also be shown in Sydney later in 2024 under the title "Thinking Inside the Box".

Portia Geach Memorial Award for female portraiture
3rd November - 17th December 2023
The annual Portia Geach Memorial Award celebrates portraiture by female artists living in Australia. I'm thrilled to be a finalist for the 8th time and my work this year features 24 small portraits of Richard Morecroft in a single salon hang. All the works are painted on takeaway paper plates made to look like small framed portraits. The work is entitled, "Single Use Only".
You can find out more details here:
Portia Geach Award 2023
"Capturing the multi-faceted nature of a person with only a single painting of their face seems limited, so I’ve included many different faces of my partner, Richard Morecroft, in this work.
The title - ‘Single Use Only’ - refers to the disposable plates that I’ve painted on, but it also references the sitter.
Richard is probably still most recognised for the 20 years he presented the ABC nightly news, although that is now more than two decades ago. He has achieved much in other fields since then, but ‘the newsreader’ label is hard to shake. Our culture often finds it difficult to embrace the multiple facets of individuals, tending instead to identify them as one thing only.
“Single-use” is not how I see Richard - and I hope this multi-faced work hints at the broader spectrum which is less often seen.
The background – a stretched paisley fabric – is intended to conjure the faded grandeur of an English manor-house where portraits of the occupants over the centuries are displayed in an eclectic salon hang.
It’s also a nod to Richard’s fondness for paisley print clothing."
Shoalhaven Arts' Board Grant 2023
This year I was privileged to receive a Shoalhaven Arts' Board grant for an ongoing series of works that I have been making throughout 2022/23.
I was funded to return to Far North Queensland to visit 2 more of the 'Artists' Houses' so that I could draw and paint the interiors.
These interior works are all made on unfolded cardboard packaging - a direct recycling of the packaging that we use whilst staying there.
Works from 2022 have been exhibited in the Dobell Drawing Prize (now travelling) and the Muswellbrook prize.
I plan to show works from both 2022 and 2023 in exhibitions in the Shoalhaven and in Sydney next year.

Milburn Art Prize for Landscape - Brisbane Institute of Art
Delighted to find my work "Kulki - Rainforest Clearing" is included as a finalist in the Milburn Art Prize for landscape up in Brisbane.
This work was inspired by my many visits to this special part of the world.
At 180 million years old, the Daintree is the oldest rainforest in the world and Kulki (Cape Tribulation) is at its heart. I’ve been visiting it for just 35 years.
My recent works are painted on recycled cardboard packaging, questioning sustainability in our society, particularly the clearing of fragile forests.
The show is on from the 5th - 26th May. You can find out further details here:

Dobell Drawing Prize 2023
I'm thrilled and honoured that my drawing, The Artist's House FNQ, has been included as a finalist in the forthcoming 2023 Dobell Prize for Drawing.
As the Dobell site says, 'Judges Catherine O’Donnell, Paula Latos-Valier and Katrina Cashman had the challenging task of individually reviewing 1062 entries, before convening at NAS ... to choose the 64 finalists'.
I'm really looking forward to the show and am beyond excited to be hanging in such prestigious company.
This particular work is part of an ongoing series that uses recycled household packaging to make artwork about the place being inhabited. The unfolded packaging tells its own story at the same time - in this case the packaging used was very medicinal: covid test packs, panadol packets and strepsils. Definitely a sign of the times.

The annual Muswellbrook Art Prize always attracts an impressive and diverse field of finalists. This year the prize involves painting, works on paper and ceramics.
My work "The Artists' Nook FNQ" has been listed as a finalist in the works on paper category. This diptych uses 2 unfolded takeaway containers to give a panoramic view of the interior of this eclectically decorated cottage in Port Douglas. It's a further work from a series that I'm currently focused on which deals with the idea of recycling household waste to make art about the space being inhabited. You can see all the finalists online at: www.artgalleria.com/view-room/42264 The exhibition runs from the 27th February 2023 - 29th April 2023 at the Muswellbrook Regional Art Gallery. |

Passionflower
Recent paintings at Project Gallery 90, 10th - 23rd November
The passionflower, fruit and vine have been the focus of my painterly attention over the last year.
Though a small subject, they have inspired some of my largest paintings so far and allowed me to indulge my love of thick paint.
If you're in Sydney, do try to drop in and see them in real life.

Percival Portrait Prize 2022 - QLD
My painting 'Dear Ancestor' (portrait of Andrew Barnum) is included as a finalist in the 2022 Percival Portrait Prize in Townsville. "Andrew Barnum is a singer-songwriter, educator and designer. He’s been releasing music for many decades, first as the ‘Vitabeats’, and now as a solo artist. His current release, ‘Dear Ancestor’ is a letter to our past asking for directions for the future. Looking to the past for guidance resonated with me, particularly as Andrew looks as though he’s walked straight out of a Velasquez Spanish court portrait from the 1600s. I’ve painted him as though he were a 17th Century noble man, an ancestor – I think the showman in him would have enjoyed getting around in an extravagant ruff." The exhibition of finalists is on at the Perc Tucker Regional Gallery in Townsville from 22 April – 3 July 2022 |

Portia Geach Memorial Award 2021 - for female portraiture
My portrait of ceramicist/curator Glenn Barkley entitled, "Glenn as Pox pot with fancy handles" is included as a finalist in this year's Portia Geach Memorial Award which is on exhibition IN REAL LIFE at the S H Ervin Gallery in Sydney from the 4th November. It will be a great show, so don't miss it! 'Glenn Barkley was the visionary Senior Curator at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art from 2008 to 2014. When he stepped away from that role to become a practising artist, he followed his love for ceramics and the hands-on physicality of creation. In recent years, his focus has been on making his own ceramic works incorporating distinctive and eclectic elements - “pox” pots covered in tiny craters; moulded faces, and rococo flourishes. Culture and myth, global and historical iconography, off-beat humour and even online connectedness come together in his ceramic forms which are deeply intellectual and also fun – rather like Glenn himself. I have always found his pots featuring historical figures - from US Presidents to Homer - particularly endearing, especially when he has “poxed” their faces; so I have made Glenn into one of his own poxed pots with fancy handles. Same same but different...
Still lifes and abstracts at Project Gallery 90
“Abstract” literally means to draw from, or separate. In this sense every artist is abstract… a realistic or non-objective approach makes no difference.
Richard Diebenkorn
Nothing is more abstract than reality.
Giorgio Morandi
I’ve described myself as a ‘still life painter’ for some years, but now I find the distinctions between genres blur and overlap.
For me, first and last, it’s about paint. Whether the painted surface is used to explore tangible objects or landscapes, or whether it evokes emotions, ideas or the ineffable - it’s all paint.
Paint which has to be pushed around until it arrives in the right place. And the result is just one iteration from an infinity of possible paintings, opened up brushstroke by brushstroke.
So these paintings, although recognisable as still life and abstract, are to me, all limbs of one body. They are the same but different.

Artist Residency at Seal Rocks May/June 2021
It was such a great experience taking part in a joint residency with my partner, Richard Morecroft at Seal Rocks on the mid north coast of NSW. The area is quite remote and surrounded by pristine National Parks, plus the residence is perched above the beach itself and is a joy to return to each evening.
I completed a number of works during this time and would like to thank Defiance Gallery, Sydney and Richard Caldwell for this fantastic opportunity.

The closing of iconic Sydney restaurant, Lucio's, has resulted in an auction of a substantial part of the famous Lucio's Art collection. A collection that has been put together over the last 30 years and contains work by a who's who of the Australian Art World.
Bonhams had the job of selling the works and the auction certainly created quite an event.
My 2 works sold for good prices - my first time on the secondary market. Here's a snippet...

2020 Salon Des Refuses at the S H Ervin Gallery
26th September - 29th November
My self-portrait entitled "Triple Flanny - a winter poisoning" is included in this year's Salon des Refuses at the SH Ervin Gallery, Sydney. Each year the judges for the Salon make a selection from the 1,000 or so entrants not hung in the Archibald to make their own 'alternative Archibald'. The emphasis is less on celebrity and more on art, which makes it a popular show among actual artists! "Taking the idea of ‘double denim’ and giving it an Australian twist gives you the ‘triple flanny’. The flanny is quintessential Aussie clothing – worn by farmers, tradies and artists alike – it’s functional, hardy and aesthetically-pleasing work-wear. The ‘triple flanny’ was my clothing of choice as I underwent 5 months of chemo - my winter poisoning." Kangaroo Valley Art Prize 2020
2-5 October 2020
My painting "Anonymous was a Woman" is included as a finalist in the Kangaroo Valley Arts Prize. You can find more details on their website here: https://www.artsinthevalley.net.au/post/kvartprize My artist's statement gives some insight: "Historically, women have sometimes obscured their identity in order to have their work acknowledged. Virginia Woolf proclaimed, “For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” This work includes an art magazine cover showing “The Sock Knitter” by Grace Cossington-Smith, which depicts the ‘women’s task’ of knitting. Here, the woman’s face is obscured by a still life arrangement of flowers – the only subject matter deemed ‘appropriate’ for female painters until relatively recently. Meanwhile the sitter’s wool bleeds out of the image to form a knitted frame for the painting… an uneasy meeting point of traditional women’s craft with fine art. " |

Portia Geach Memorial Award 2020
The Portia Geach Memorial Award is the premiere prize for female portraiture in Australia is held at the fabulous S H Ervin Gallery in Sydney each year.
My painting (left) titled, "The Beloved" is a finalist in the prize this year. It's my 5th year as a finalist - I was first hung in this exhibition in 2011 with a painting of Richard (Morecroft, my partner), so it feels a bit like coming full circle to have a painting of Richard again hanging in this prize, nearly a decade later. "For the last half of 2019 my partner, Richard, became my carer. I had been diagnosed with cancer and undertook a 6 month treatment programme of surgeries and chemotherapy. During this time, he fed me, drove me to endless appointments, lay uncomfortably on chairs all night after my surgery, held my hand for every 6 hour session of chemo, shaved my head when my hair began to fall and listened without judgement to my fearful ramblings at all hours of the day and night. Cancer treatment is no walk in the park, but he made it easier, funnier, more hopeful. The dark places were a little less dark. Everyone needs someone by their side unconditionally at times like this, which is why he is, ‘The Beloved.’ On a lighter note, Richard has always had a penchant for patterned shirts. In this painting he wears an imaginary shirt that might pass as Gucci, but in fact the pattern is based on the biohazard symbols that we saw so often in hospitals over the past year." https://www.shervingallery.com.au/event/portia-geach-memorial-award-2020/ "The Beloved" 60cm x 60cm Oil on birch panel |
Northern Beaches Art Prize 2020 (online)
The Northern Beaches Art Prize has moved online this year owing to the Coronavirus pandemic, but asked artists to respond to the theme of being at home.
My work (right) titled, 'Dark Places - 1800 RESPECT' is a finalist in this prize and it responds to this by focusing on the issue of domestic violence through a still life painting.
"Home is not always a safe place. Domestic violence has increased during the Coronavirus crisis as individuals have had to isolate with their abusers.
This painting puts the familiar objects of domestic life in an ambiguous setting, evoking isolation, vulnerability and threat.
We must shine light into these dark places. "

Winner - Gallipoli Art Prize 2020
My work "Breathe" - a 9 panel oil painting featuring gas masks from WW1 and WW2 has been chosen as the winner of the Gallipoli Art Prize 2020. Although none of us can actually visit the show because of the Corona virus pandemic, I'm thrilled to receive this award and look forward to seeing the works in real life later in the year. Congratulations to all the finalists and thanks to the Gallipoli Club and judges for their hard work in making this happen online. You can see all the finalist's works online at: www.gallipoliartprize.org.au |
Gallipoli Art Prize 2020This year the Gallipoli Art Prize will be held online as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic. My painting 'Breathe' which features gas masks from WW1 is among the finalists. Breathe Oil on 9 birch panels 92cm x 92cm Our deepest instinct is to breathe. We do it about 15,000 times a day. In and out. Without it there is no life for us. Protecting that breath in times of conflict spawned strange apparatus; masks that morphed humans – both soldiers and civilians - into alien-like creatures with the common cause of survival. The gas mask was patented in 1914 and over a century later, in this recent summer of fire and smoke, protective breathing masks were once again in use. My personal experience of these fires and the mask I needed to wear for smoke protection made me think about this connection between past and present. Whilst the enemy and the army are different, the RFS - who bravely fought these fires over many months - have epitomised some of the strongest qualities of the original ANZACs. We owe them a great debt of thanks. |
For the Birds...
Like many Australians the end of 2019 and the start of 2020 will literally be emblazoned on my memory. New Year's Eve spent in a black-orange haze, kayaks packed and in the water waiting for an escape if necessary, water-hoses at the ready for ember attack. And, of course, it's not just us humans who are affected. The 8.5million hectares that has burnt was habitat for about a billion creatures. They too have lost their homes, their lives and now their food source. Artists respond to their environment - the happenings around them. These paintings appeared in the studio as I thought of the creatures and how they might try to survive this devastation. Clockwise from top left: Masked finch, Masked Owl, Masked Cockatoo, Masked Spinebill, Masked Budgie. |
"Still and Within" at Project Gallery 90, Paddington
Opening night: Thursday 28th November - all welcome
"Still and Within" is a joint exhibition where Alison Mackay and Nic Mason explore interiors and still life painting.
Exhibition: Thursday 28th November - Wednesday 11th December 2019 at Project Gallery 90, 90 Oxford Street, Paddington, Sydney.
‘Still and Within’ includes both interiors and still life paintings by Alison Mackay and Nic Mason. The title references the actuality of these works, but also hints at an introspective mindset integral to the painting process – a focused and internalised headspace found in the artist’s studio. Many of the works in this exhibition reference artist residencies undertaken in recent years. Alison Mackay painted at the reconstructed home of legendary painter, Margaret Olley, (now part of the Tweed Regional Gallery) and at a remote bush cottage on the Monaro (a Defiance Gallery all-female residency). Nic Mason was an Artist in Residence at Bundanon on the NSW south coast. |

Salon Des Refuses 2019
My painting "Under Her Eye - Charlotte Wood after Otto Dix" (which was submitted for this year's Archibald prize) will be hung in the prestigious Salon Des Refuses 2019.
'Charlotte Wood is an Australian novelist who won the 2016 Stella Prize (for female writers) with her brilliant and confronting book, “The Natural Way of Things”. This painting references the 1926 Otto Dix portrait of journalist Sylvia Von Harden - another strong, enigmatic woman writer. As a sitter, Charlotte was gracious and cooperative; but as a writer, she is fierce and intellectually uncompromising.' I am so grateful to Charlotte for being such an inspiring, gracious and supportive sitter. The Salon Des Refuses is at the S H Ervin Gallery on Observatory Hill, Sydney and the show is open from May 11 until the end of July 2019 https://www.shervingallery.com.au/event/salon-des-refuses-2019/ |
Gallipoli Art Prize 2019 - open from 17th April at the Harbour View Hotel, Dawes Point
My multi-panel painting, "Bloom - For Country, For Home" is a finalist in this year's Gallipoli Art Prize. I'm excited to say that it's my 6th consecutive year as a finalist in this prestigious prize and I'm always delighted to be a part of it.
Here is some background on the painting: The ‘bloom of youth’ is a phrase that is often used to describe those who answer the call to arms in times of war. Many soldiers have been very young when they have fought and sometimes made the ultimate sacrifice. This painting associates that ‘bloom’ with the floral emblems of each State, Territory and the Commonwealth of Australia – symbols of the localities from all over this country that soldiers have called home. These are the places - and the nation - that they have loved and sought to protect. Floral Emblems: Commonwealth: Golden Wattle NSW: Waratah Tasmania: Tasmanian Blue Gum Victoria: Common Heath Queensland: Cooktown Orchid NT: Sturt’s Desert Rose WA: Kangaroo Paw ACT: Royal Bluebell SA: Sturt’s Desert Pea |

The Gallipoli Art Prize 2018
19th April-27th April at Bondi Junction RSL
My work, 'Weapons Mandala (Meditation on Warfare)' has been included as a finalist in this year's Gallipoli Art Prize. It's the 5th time that I've been a finalist in this popular prize and I'm thrilled to be included in such an impressive field of works. Here is some background on the work:
A mandala is intended to encourage contemplation and is most often used as a visual aid to meditation. Traditionally, a mandala is a highly decorated square or circle made up of repeated patterns and symbols of spiritual significance to the user.
This mandala uses weapons to build its repeated pattern.
The user can concentrate on the overall form of the mandala or contemplate the individual elements contained within it – bombs, rifles, knives, mines, grenades. Whatever the approach, the aim is to encourage thought about the complexity of conflict through these repeated objects.
There is, of course, an irony that a mandala – a tool for peace and spirituality – is being used for a meditation on warfare. The irony is echoed in the aesthetic attractiveness of objects which have been created to cause death or injury.

NSW Parliament's Plein Air Painting Prize 2017
I'm delighted to be a finalist in the NSW Parliament's Plein Air Painting Prize 2017 with my triptych, 'Basin Shadows' (oil on card). This prize is entirely dedicated to work made in the outdoors, and the landscape depicted must be within NSW - no photos, no studio touch ups, just raw response to a place, so it's always an interesting exhibition. It's also a bit of a special work for me, as it was some of the first plein air painting I did after moving from our beloved bush property to the shores of St Georges Basin. A first response to a major life change. You will soon be able to see all the finalists' images online here: http://pleinair.com.au/previous-years/2017-2/ |
Artist residency at Maffra through Defiance Gallery
A mid-winter artists' residency opportunity to paint with a small group of fellow artists at Maffra on the Monaro (a wonderful, remote location) organised through Lauren Harvey and Campbell Robertson-Swann at Defiance Gallery, Sydney.
Most painted en plein aire, which left me with the wonderfully eclectic interiors to focus on. Still life heaven. |

Gallipoli Art Prize 2017
My work, '136,000 to 1' is included as a finalist in the Gallipoli Art Prize 2017 to be held at the Gallipoli Memorial Club in Sydney from 20 April.
This is the story of Sandy: At least 136,000 Australian horses – known as Walers – were used during World War I, including in the Gallipoli campaign. Walers were a sturdy and capable breed that could survive on minimal food and water. Under the extreme conditions of conflict, strong bonds formed between these horses and their handlers. At the end of the war, it was announced that none of these 136,000 horses would be brought home. The logistics and cost of shipping them back to Australia were considered impractical. Soldiers were ordered to leave their horses to be sold into an unknown fate. It was such a devastating blow that some shot their own horses rather than abandon them. Just one horse, a 10 year old bay gelding called Sandy, made it home. He was the mount of General Bridges who was killed at Gallipoli. It was Bridges’ dying wish that Sandy – his favourite horse - should return to Australia at the end of the war. Sandy saw out his days at pasture in Canberra and, after his death, his head was mounted and displayed in a glass box at the Australian War Memorial for many years. A reminder of the 135,999 other horses that were left behind. http://gallipoli.com.au/art-prize/alison-mackay-4/ |

The Nature of Things - review
Here's a link to the great review by Peter Haynes of our show 'The Nature of Things' http://www.theguardian.com.au/story/4284879/still-life-paintings-and-natural-world-delight-at-form-gallery-in-queanbeyan/?cs=24
"The Nature of Things is a delightful exhibition with much to captivate the eye. It is a celebratory collaboration that highlights the beauty of the everyday and the ongoing validity of traditional themes and their relevance to contemporary painting." This review has now been published in the Guardian, the SMH, the Age, the Canberra Times and many other locally syndicated papers like the Illawarra Mercury, Courier and South Coast Register. Great coverage! |

Gallipoli Art Prize 2016
I'm very pleased to be included as a finalist in the new incarnation of the Gallipoli Art Prize. It's great that this prize is to continue after its initial intended 10 year stint, particularly as it always draws out an interesting and diverse range of artists and their work. Also it's my 3rd year in a row being included in this prize and each year it lets me explore the same theme in a completely different way.
This year my work is called 'For the Fallen' and references the trees planted in memory of those who were lost.

Nancy Fairfax Artist in Residence at Tweed Regional Gallery.
Spent a fantastic time recently up at the Nancy Fairfax Studio at the Tweed Regional Gallery on a short residency. The Gallery now houses (literally!) the Margaret Olley exhibition which includes a permanent reconstruction of her home in all its inspirational chaos. I got to spend some time whilst the gallery was closed working from the exhibition itself and found it an intriguing and poignant experience.
Some of the works are below: clockwise from top: "The Hat Factory" charcoal & pastel on concertina paper; "Olley's Lounge Room" Oil on cardboard (drug packaging); "Olley Artefacts" Oil on wood.

The Portia Geach Memorial Award 2011
takes place at the S H Ervin Gallery in Sydney in September each year.
My painting "From the Waist Up" (pictured below) has been chosen as one of the finalists for this show.
Richard Morecroft is best known to Australians from the waist up. He presented ABC TV News for 20 years, but resigned in 2001 to pursue other interests, including photography. A decade later, he has had many exhibitions of his work and his photos are included in this year’s Blake Prize (Sydney); he is also back on television screens, hosting SBS’s “Letters and Numbers” at 6pm weeknights.
As Richard’s partner, it’s a pleasure to see him back in his natural environment – the TV studio - however his recording commitments require him to spend much of the year in Melbourne.
As we live in Jervis Bay, NSW this means substantial time apart; a sense of aloneness – either his or mine – has seeped into this painting.
